Adult Pet Wellness

Bringing your pet in for an annual diagnostic and wellness checkup can help reassure you that your dog or cat is healthy or help us detect hidden diseases or conditions early. Early detection can improve the prognosis of many diseases, keep medical costs down, and help your pet live longer. Many dogs and cats are good at hiding signs that something is wrong, so subtle changes in their health or behavior might be easy to overlook. And, depending on the disease, some pets don’t show any symptoms.

Dogs and cats age far more quickly than humans, so it is crucial for our companion animals to receive regular exams and diagnostic testing. In addition, the risks of arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, hormone disorders, kidney failure, liver problems and other diseases all increase with age.

During your pet’s checkup the technician and veterinarian will review your pet’s medical records and ask questions about your pet’s history. The veterinarian will then perform a thorough physical examination, checking your pet from nose to tail. We will recommend appropriate diagnostic testing, which may include blood, fecal, and urine tests, to check for parasites and underlying diseases. In addition, depending on the age of your pet and the results of the physical examination and test results, we may recommend additional diagnostics such as radiographs, ultrasound examination or other more advanced testing. Your veterinarian will review your pet’s record to ensure that he or she receives appropriate vaccinations and preventive medications. Dental health impacts your pet’s quality of life and overall health status so we may also recommend that your pet receive dental care. Thorough annual health care as outlined above will enable us to detect and track any changes early, and will help to ensure that your pet lives a long and healthy life.
